The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce is the principal sponsor of the second annual Gloucester Blues Festival, which will take place in Gloucester’s Stage Fort Park on Saturday, August 10 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

World-class blues will reverberate through the park with some of the nation’s finest performers playing from the festival stage. The 2013 Gloucester Blues Festival lineup will include the following outstanding performers:

Tommy Castro and the Painkillers
Ana Popovic
Anthony Gomes
Johnny Rawls
Lydia Warren
Mr. Nick and the Dirty Tricks
Gracie Curran and the High Falutin’ Band

Blues Festival tickets are selling at a stronger pace than 2012, the first year of the Gloucester Blues Festival, Gloucester, Massachusetts’ premier musical event. According to Robert Hastings, co-producer, “We are pleased to see that this festival is experiencing sales success in its second year. We have some of the top blues stars in the world performing on our waterfront Stage Fort Park stage and the blues fans are showing their gratitude by buying tickets early.”

Blues bands this year include the incomparable headliners Tommy Castro and the Painkillers and the red hot Ana Popovic, a Croatian born singer/blues guitarist now out of Memphis, TN. Canada’s Anthony Gomes, who was just selected as the “number one blues artist in the world” by Reverb Nation will rock the park and Mississippi-born Johnny Rawls will bring his traditional blues sound to the party. Some of the east coast’s favorite blues bands will round out the cast of blues stars, including Lydia Warren, Mr. Nick and the Dirty Tricks and Gracie Curran and the High Falutin’ Band.

The festival is co-produced by the nationally renowned blues promoter, Paul Benjamin of Rockland, ME. He has produced or consulted on festivals in Chicago, Maine, Louisiana, Florida, New Hampshire and St. John (USVI) and is past president of the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN. His North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, ME has averaged 16,000 blues lovers each year over the last twenty years.

The Gloucester Blues Festival will again have a beer and wine garden and numerous food and craft vendors as well. Tickets are available for $28 online at (through August 5th). Tickets are $40 at the gate. Tickets are also available at the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce (the festival’s city sponsor) at 33 Commercial Street in Gloucester.
