Ellis with Rachael Kilgour
February 10 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm$10
Old Sloop Coffeehouse is proud to present a concert featuring Ellis Saturday, February 10, at 7:30 PM at the handicap-accessible First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St, with Rachael Kilgour opening.
There’s just something about Ellis. She is at once funny and wise, thoughtful and uninhibited, and her captivating voice is matched by her uplifting lyrics. Ellis’ performances are transformational; she leaves her audiences better than she finds them, with softened edges and opened hearts. Ellis has been recognized both for her songwriting skills as well as her engaging performances. She has won many awards and honors. Many folk festivals have “audience choice” awards, and Ellis has claimed those honors at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Moab Folk Festival (3 times), and Sisters Folk Festival. She is a favorite of Garrison Keillor, having appeared on A Prairie Home Companion 4 times.
Rachael Kilgour recently relocated from Duluth, Minnesota to Boston, and we are glad to have her! Her writing and delivery cut deep, with resolute simplicity. Sorrow, rage, resilience and compassion exist side by side within a series of honest and memorable melodies. She has won the grand prize winner of the esteemed international NewSong Music Performance & Songwriting Competition, and was a winner at the Kerrville New Folk Contest in 2017. Kilgour has been featured at NYC’s Lincoln Center and by the ASCAP Music Cafe at the Sundance Film Festival.
Advance tickets are $10. Visit the website at oldsloopcoffeehouse.org or The Bookstore in Gloucester. The suggested contribution at the door is $12 for adults, $8 for those 65 and older, $5 for those under 18, and $24 for families.
