Celebrate SWAN Day – Support Women Artists Now!
March 31 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
International SWAN (Support Woman Artists Now) Day is an exciting and educational day of celebration as the world pauses to hear and see the creative voices of women artists in our own community and beyond. Thousands of talented women artists all over the world are making remarkable contributions to their communities and enriching the lives of those who encounter their work. SWAN Day is a time to recognize and thank these women. Women artists you know and those you have yet to meet. It’s a time to reflect on woman artists who are no longer with us but leave a legacy. And to acknowledge not only those woman artists who are creating today, but those who will bring us their voice in the future.
Organizer Heidi Caswell Zander asks, “Can you name 5 women artists? For many, this is a challenge. Pausing to observe the art around us that is created by women artists helps to broaden our understanding of the human story and of the experiences of life beyond our own. It connects us and feeds our spirit.”
Join the Rockport Art Association & Museum, 12 Main Street, Rockport, MA on Saturday, March 31 from 2 – 4 PM. RAA&M will have name-that-female-artist contests, DIY swan art, face painting, swan pins, tee shirts, prizes, refreshments, and more. All while enjoying the opening of the spring Contributing Members Art Show featuring many local female artists. Bring the family. For more information call the RAA&M at 978-546-6604.
We encourage you to seek out the work of women artists on SWAN Day and every day. All in an effort to Create. Connect. And Change the world.
